What is THC?
THC, short for delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, is the main psychoactive compound in the cannabis plant. It is the ingredient responsible for the "high" most people associate with marijuana. When you smoke, vape or eat cannabis, THC interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system, a network of receptors that plays a role in mood, appetite, sleep and how we perceive sensations.
The percentage of THC on a product label tells you how potent it is. Flower commonly ranges from the mid-teens into the high twenties, while concentrates can test far higher. Edibles are labelled in milligrams instead, so you can see exactly how much THC is in each piece. Higher is not always better; the right potency depends on your tolerance and the experience you want.
